Dino Hunters beginner guide — first hour, starter team, capture loop

First 5 minutes — the verified sequence

After ~10 minutes of farming with Auto on, most beginners have 4–6 dinosaurs, a Shotgun, and enough Dino Essence for their first Evolution.

Starter team composition

A balanced trio covers more content than an all-DPS team:

• Tank: Triceratops or Ankylosaurus (both spawn in the Temperate Forest).
• DPS: Velociraptor or Dilophosaurus.
• Support: Parasaurolophus or Pachycephalosaurus.

The rank ladder F → E → D → C → B → A → S → SS → SSS applies to every companion. Rank up before chasing the next zone — a SSS-rank Common is roughly equivalent to a B-rank Rare in raw combat power.

First unlocks checklist

• Crossbow → Shotgun — the first major weapon upgrade.
• Equip Best button — unlocked through Inventory; auto-swaps your strongest dinosaurs.
• Daily Missions + Daily Rewards — passive Coin and Fossil income once you have a working squad.
• Codes menu — via the Discord icon (see the Codes Status page).
• Jurassic Plains Index — registering new species grants Fossil currency.
• Crests (e.g. Dark Flame Crest) — equippable stat boosters from tougher dinosaurs.
• Evolution chamber — consumes Dino Essence for a stat jump when a companion reaches its level cap.

Common beginner mistakes

1. Skipping Auto Battle / Auto Catch — manual attacking misses the 3–5× capture speed boost.
2. Constantly swapping companions — roster shuffles reset focus and slow the team-wide level curve. Spend time leveling your strongest.
3. Ignoring Daily Missions and the Jurassic Plains Index — throws away the easiest free cash.
4. Engaging enemies that out-level your weapon — higher-level dinosaurs take longer to kill, lowering Coin-per-hour.
5. Trying to fight zone bosses early — bosses reset your progress and have extremely high HP. Wait until your squad can clear zone mobs in a few seconds each.
6. Forgetting to upgrade the Crossbow → Shotgun — sticking with the starter weapon slows every fight.
7. Equipping only one role — all-DPS teams melt in tank-heavy zones.
